A Experiência do Lugar – Desenho de Júlio Resende [The Experience of Place – Drawing by Júlio Resende]

This project is a partnership between Núcleo de Arte da Oliva and Lugar do Desenho – Fundação Júlio Resende. The exhibition A Experiência do Lugar – Desenho de Júlio Resende features drawings and paintings made between 1949 and 2001 in several locations in his biographic and artistic trajectory: Alentejo, Póvoa de Varzim, Ribeira do Porto, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Goa. ‘The exhibition testifies to the powerful bond of Júlio Resende’s oeuvre to the places where he lived and worked, as well as those he visited, the diversity of techniques he resorted to, the transformation of his plastic vocabulary and the balance between a documental gaze and a desire for poetic expression’.
