Victor Costa. Pintura | Obra Pública (1982-2016) Victor Costa / Public Work (1982-2016)
12 november 2016 — 31 march 2017

“This co-production between Núcleo de Arte da Oliva / Centro de Arte de São João da Madeira features works by Victor Costa, a painter who has been developing his artistic trajectory for thirty years. In a constant examination of his past and present, his prevailing values keep changing: the freedom experienced at the surface of his painting became a search for more rigorous planes and markings; the fluid atmosphere of his works became a heavy, grave density and the museologic space he inhabited (where objects and signs alighted on the canvas) became an all- encompassing space, a consistent web. These changes point to an attentive and secure artist, whose oeuvre evolves according to a nexus which the values he explores establishes with new interests while recovering previously explored references as pretexts for creation in each instance.” [Laura Castro] [Laura Castro]
