A Coleção “(Reloaded)” [The Collection ‘(Reloaded)’]
11 may — 30 december 2017
Curator: João Silvério
Production: Centro de Artes de Águeda

‘This exhibition features artworks by twenty-one artists, including drawing, sculpture, installation, painting, photography and video. The selection does not intend to represent a collection which is made of over one thousand works; it rather attempts to offer a vision of the collection in the diversity of media, scales, themes and trends that guided some of the collector’s choice spanning a historical arc from the 1950s (with a work by Maria Helena Vieira da Silva) to more recent works by Carlos Correia or João Onofre. To show this collection is a continuous, ongoing construction process because it keeps growing through regular acquisitions, like a work in progress, and, at the hands of every guest curator, each exhibition is an additional contribution to illuminate the premises that the collector considers to be more relevant, i.e., the work of national and foreign artists from different generations. The collection features nuclei of works and artists that offer historical perspectives on Portuguese art and the ever-present, pertinent issues of its transformation and development in recent periods, over more than five decades, not only in its diversity but in its range, which translates into a collection with a museologic scale and dimension’.
